How do solar panels work?
Solar panels comprise of many smaller units called photovoltaic cells. As sunlight hits the photovoltaic cells (usually made from silicon) - the photo energy (light) is tranformed into voltaic enery (electrial current). By allowing photons, or particles of light, to knock electrons free from atoms a steady current of electricity is created.
Is it necessary to clean solar panels?
The more sunlight is impeded from reaching the silicon atoms in the panels the less energy they generate.
